A Day of Discovery, Joy, and Hope: Every Child Deserves a Day to Remember
On 15th June 2025, Lawson Fuses, in collaboration with Pratibha Foundation, organised an educational day trip for fifty children from Dena Village, located on the outskirts of Vadodara. For many of the participants, it was their first experience outside their local community; an opportunity to engage with new environments, broaden their horizons and take part in structured learning outside the classroom.
Why This Matters
Many of these children, aged between 5 and 12, face significant barriers to education due to poverty, limited access to resources and a high risk of early school dropout. Their circumstances often restrict opportunities for learning and personal development.
At Lawson Fuses, we believe education should be a joyful experience, not a struggle. In partnership with the Pratibha Foundation, this initiative aimed to:
- Spark curiosity and a lifelong love for learning
- Expand horizons beyond their everyday environment
- Make each child feel valued, seen and supported
A Journey to Remember
The first stop was the local zoo; a moment of magic for many. For some, it was the first time they had seen animals beyond the pages of a book. The children gasped at dancing peacocks, roaring lions, and playful monkeys, their joy lighting up the morning.
Next came the museum, where curiosity took centre stage. Standing in awe beneath the skeleton of a blue whale, the children marvelled at exhibits exploring human evolution, ancient tools and natural history, all delivered in a way that sparked fascination rather than formality.
Between scheduled visits, the children took part in informal activities including games and shared refreshments. The day provided them with an opportunity to engage, interact and experience learning in a supportive and stimulating environment.
Putting Care at the Centre
- All logistics, from transport to meals , were managed with safety and care as our top priority.
- A dedicated team of Lawson volunteers joined the trip, guiding, encouraging and connecting with the children.
- Buses were arranged to safely bring the group to and from their village.
- Each child received personal attention, ensuring they felt supported and secure throughout.
What We Learnt
While the aim was to provide inspiration and new experiences for the children, the day also offered valuable perspective for our team. It served as a reminder of:
- How powerful simple experiences can be
- That hope is often strongest in the youngest hearts
-
And that small, meaningful efforts can drive lasting change
